I have been trying to track down and fix a coolant leak in my 2004 grandprix. I felt antifreeze on the underside of the lower radiator hose, so I replaced it. As it turns out, the leak is actually coming from under the belt somewhere. I have never tried to repair the belt or any kind of seals on the motor before, but i am ready to attempt the task. Before I start pullling the motor apart. I am curious if anyone else has ran into this problem. The leak is major and empties the coolant tank over night. It is leaking onto the belt and being thrown all over the motor. It is not leaking into my oil so I believe the head gasket is ok. Any help would be great!

Could be the water pump, or the coolant elbows (assuming that the l26 has them). could also be the timing belt cover? Idk, have any pictures. could be the LIM gaskets also.

the leak feels like its coming from underneath the large circular cover with the three nuts on it. also the picture is upside down. I hope that this helps. sorry i don't know any of the correct terminology.

Use photobucket. My guess is the coolant elbows. One thing you will learn is that head gaskets don't go bad on these cars. The coolant elbows can be had for about 5 bucks at any auto parts store. Dorman makes them. The process entails taking the alternator and bracket off to get to them.

Yeah its the elbows. You can see in the picture on the left side, about 3/4 of the way up there is a plastic tube going into the tensioner assembly. That's the elbow. There is also another one on there to change as well.

That was exactly the problem. Both elbows were broken off around the o-ring. Changed the elbows and the belt. (running wet sure did a number on the old belt) Thanks again for the help!
