Well, last night I filled up my GTP for the first time and without thinking i put 89 in it which is a habit because thats what I ran in my blazer. Well dumbass me forgot that it is supercharged and requires a higher octane (91 and up) right? Well I was driving to work this morning and I got a check engine light on. Do you think this could be because of the octane i put in? I'm going around 12pm to get it scanned. Just wanted to see if this is something common. Let me know. Thanks!

    Maybe..

Google Tolulene calculators and find one, calculate what amount you need for the gallons of fuel. Then gently drive the car to the paint supply store and buy that amount. Add it to your tank and you'll bring your octane right back to where it should be.

Did you put the gas cap back on all the way? If it doesnt seal, it will trigger the light.

03 GTP...Its got pulleys and stuff.

Well i took it and got it scanned and it turned out to be some type of thermostat temp code. The guy told me that my thermostat was bad and my car was taking to long to heat up to operating temp? Im not sure what thats all about but i went home swapped my thermostat out and the light stayed on for the rest of the day. Then i got up this morning drove it to work and about half way to work the light went out..So maybe it was the thermostat. Is it bad to be driving around with 89 in it? Or should i just go to advance auto and buy a bottle of octane booster and just add some?

    Most octane booster is junk.

You'll be fine, just don't floor it. I would reccomend emptying it to half a tank, then filling with 91. Run the half/half combo out and stick with 91 or higher after that.

Thermostats get stuck open when they go bad, its normal.

I'd follow my advice above. Just saying.

P0128 Coolant not up to temp quick enough is the type of code that it takes 2 consecutive start ups to set a light and 3 consecutive good start ups to turn the light back off. Likely why it went off when it saw the car come up to temp properly this morning.

    Right here.....

There's really no maintenance. It's nice to change the oil in it every 30K miles. But GM FSMs really only say to top it off if it's low.

Rollingperformance.com is a great place to get a new coupler if it's rattling, bearings if they go bad and oil. Plus they have great instructions on their site for all of it.

the moron at the gas station pumped 30 of a 40 dollar gas order of regular in my car last night, what a dick. and i had just commented how the price was 367 for 93 and he was killing me!!!! i look back to see where the meter was and i see the 87 light lit up, i jumped out and stopped the pump, and then got the last 10 in super 93. what kills me is i get gas every week from the same guy, he knows better.

this is the only trouble with the law not letting you pump your own gas here in new jersey.

so it looks like ill be driving like a grand ma driving for the next 300 miles lol

we can if you get to the pump before the attendant, but why get out and pump if its a free service, and by law NO your not allowed to pump your own gas here in NJ, i do believe its the only state with that law on the books. hey and they check your oil if you ask them too. not that i'd be buying a $5 quart of oil from them or letting them under my hood.

i like this law for when filling the work trucks, any one who has ever pumped diesel knows that stuff stinks if you get it on you, so again let the guy do his job and fill it up for ya.

and NJ seems to have some of the cheapest gas prices in the country, and we get that price with full service at the pumps.
