i have a bone stock gtp and i basically wanna make the super charger louder (the whine) ive been reading around and people say the open cone intake will cause it to be louder. what i was wondering is can i just slap a cone filter on the end of the stock tubbing or do i need to buy some special set up?

You can put a cone on the end of the TB, or you can buy some tubing from Lowes and make an extension down closer to the drivers headlight.

    ^^^ this^^^

Slap a cone right on the end of the TB and call it a day... That's what I did and works well. And yes the S/C will whine like an infant if you punched it..

What is it with all the intake threads? Use the search bar people. You can do it blindfolded

I smelled 04+ on this post..

Assuming so, you can just put the filter right on the maf. It works quite well.

    Apparently from people that tune...

Filter on the end of the MAF skews the readings...so if you go open cone...you need a little adapter OR a small amount of pipe between the MAF and the filter.

What I did on my buddy's, was put the maf on the throttle body, then used a 3"-4" adaptor to go to 4" pvc and a 9" cone

    Puny?

I thought the L26/L32's were bigger than L67's...maybe not.

this is what i came up with, i was unable to find a 90 deg elbow and used a 45. the cone straight off the t body dont seem to have the clearance so i used the elbow. i got a 6 dollar rubber couple with the metal band and 2 clamps on it, remove the metal band from the clamps, slid it on the t body and then the cone, drill a hole for the iat sensor, done.

    ^^Cut that 90* in half. 45>90

Steps to do an open cone?

Rip off everything and bolt the cone to the end of the TB?

    Pretty straight forward.

IAT placement doesn't matter either...because it's gonna get hot regardless.

Yeah nick, the l67/36 are about 3.25-3.5 while the l32/26 are around 3.0 flat. Realize it as that the throttle body od is the same as the maf tube

i was going to cut it but in the middle its not the same dimensions of the outer lip where the filter is now, see what i mean? and not perfectly round either on the outside middle.

I was meaning the inner diameter...oh wellz. There isn't much material around the new DBW TB's...but there is quite a bit of material around the older ones.
