I drive a 2002 Grand Prix GTP with 96k. Ive never had a problem with it till yesterday my heated seat wouldnt shut off...came inside to look up some info and found some stuff about the switch under the seat getting stuck and until you get it fixed to just remove the fuse. I went outside to do this and found out in the mean time my battery had been drained and died. I waited till this morning to jump it...jumped it and it started fine. Went to drive around the block to let it run for a bit and noticed my boost gauge was showing no boost and my range was showing 9 miles with a half of a tank. Usually when it hits 40 it would just say "low" but when i last used my car it said i had 187 miles left. Everything else in the DIC was also reset like my MPG was at 0 and gas used was at 0. I am just about to get my oil changed so oil still read "LOW" like it had before. Any idea why this has happened or what i can do to fix it? I feel like it may be electrical due to having to jump my battery but i dont know....

When u jumped the battery did u put the negative jumper cable on the negative post of the battery? All tho I'm not a believer of it, I heard that if u jump a car and u put the negative jumper on the negative post of the battery being jumped it causes electrical issues and that u should always ground the negative jumper cable to the alternator or something. I never had an issue as I do both but maybe I was getting lucky. So if it is all true then yeah u could have an electrical issue because of how u jumped ur car and idk what to do to fix it lol

That is the wrong way to jump a car my friend, for 2 reasons. One being that you should never, ever, ever connect the negative before the positive. 2nd being that you should have grounded the negative to the chassis or alternator on the dead car. Don't hook the negative up to the battery on the dead car.

Sorry, but this is another stupid myth. I have jumped COUNTLESS cars over the years, have always hooked to the post, and have NEVER had an issue.

Would you like to know why you're not supposed to connect the negative to the negative post on the dead battery? It's because there is a chance of sparks and or explosion occurring. It's not a myth, it's fact. In fact, a quick Google search of "how to jump start a car".... The first result that comes up clearly says "Then connect the other black (negative) cable to a clean, unpainted metal surface under the disabled car’s hood. Somewhere on the engine block is a good place. Unless you want to see flying sparks and a possible explosion, do not connect the negative cable to the negative terminal of the dead battery, ."

BTW, those bolded words were not my doing. They bolded them themselves as a way to provide emphasis to NOT DO IT.

I know you have jumped countless batteries, we all have. But just because you haven't had some kind of mishap so far doesn't mean that it can't happen. Stay safe brother!

Power was either super low or dead to the DIC for a while. I'd expect some stuff to be reset. Drive it a bit and see if things work themselves out.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Yeah. Everything in the DIC I would guess would be reset but the funny issue is the no boost and the low gas range without it saying LOW. Hopefully it resets like bill said.

Is anything else being run on that circuit that you unfused? try puting that fuse back in at least for the moment and see if it runs any better.cant hurt right?check to make sure no other fuses were blown in the process.never know mabey its something simple.but when does simple ever really happen
