1997 GP GT. Recently I have been having issues with the key coming out and I know thats from the solenoid under the wheel. Now all of a sudden to shift out of park requires a lot of pressure on the shifter button. The BTSI fuse is fine and I think its still good because I still need to press the break for me to be able to press the button and shift from park. It is only hard to press when its in park. Could this be a mechanical issue? I am going to be ripping out the solenoid under the wheel as I don't really need that extra safety feature anyways. Any help would be much appreciated please help. Thanks. -Frank

i had a similar problem with my regal, i had to slam my palm on the button to get out of park, it turns out all it need was to be lubed up. now it works like new.

yeah I am going to take the console apart and try that. Just like its not that its like slowly stiff when I press it. I have to use all my might and then it clicks like normal....i have trouble thinking that is electrical though. hmm

we have different shifters but the button still works a rod down the middle of the shaft, thats what i lubed up. mine was like a rock to make move i had to slam it, but after it was in gear it all worked fine, odd but white lithium worked great for me.

ok thanks ill look into it i hope its just that. I noticed it getting harder to pressed because I would keep pressing the button to release my key so maybe its worn out.
