My '99 GT Coupe likes to spit out a bunch of coolant at start up or while it sits... Meaning yesterday my daughter moved her car, and it left a huge puddle of coolant, plus a nice trail out of my driveway. This is coming form the passenger side of the engine.

Last night she mentioned the low coolant light comes on then turns off every once in a while, I said I would check it when I got home. I have left prior to her yesterday and came home after she had told me about the low coolant.

This same thing happened 2 days in a row in December, I checked under the car and it was all wet, coolant dripping from everywhere. I took the belt off and found play in the water pump pulley so I replaced the water pump on December 19th - funny thing is yesterday I just returned the old water pump core... I also installed 2 new bypass elbows too.

I little background on this car. I picked it up one year ago(January 14, 2010). I got it for the tires and parts, the guy who owned it went to leave work one evening and it would not turn over. After bringing it home I found it was hydro locked, I replaced upper intake, lower intake gaskets, bypass elbows etc... It had 200k on it, it now has 210k, it drives very nicely.

Any ideas on why this 3800 likes to puke coolant every once in a while?

with that much of a leak you would think there would be a wet trail to follow.

98 Buick Regal GS, F body brakes, Caddy STS wheels, tinted tails L36 bottom end, lightly ported heads, 1.95 roller rockers, headers, gen 5 N* 3.0 pulley, FSIC, 42 lb injectors, a BrandonHall rebuilt trans, DHP tuned and AEM water/Meth injection https://goo.gl/gpV5kW

He said there was coolant dripping from everywhere. When the elbows crack or leak out the o-rings, coolant goes right on to the belt (or belts) and gets thrown around the engine bay, this creates quite an untraceable mess.

i hear ya, but you should be able to see a leak that trails the driveway just by looking at it.

you did a water pump, by chance did you use sealant on the 4 long bolts? if not that may be your leak. but i dont think that would leak as bad as you are saying it leaks.

Bad coolant elbows - do you mean the 2 elbows that I've change 2 times in the past 11 months? I'm thinking these are in good shape...

A mess it is. Just got to find the problem.

I did not use Sealant on these bolts. I'm thinking my prior problem is here, just need to find it
