ok so this problem just started all of a sudden.
    symptoms:
blower motor does not work when car is running.
turning the fan control switch shuts off the head lights.
    rear defroster doesn't work.
    ac doesn't works.
strange rattling buzzing noise from under hood near firewall when lights are on.
strange click when I turn the blower motor on coming from above the e-brake.
also some times it takes a little bit of cranking the engine over before it starts.

    things I checked:
    grounds
    wiring connections.
    fuses.
    relays.

the only thing I have not checked that was suggested was the ignition switch. Is there anyway to check that without removing it? also is there anything else I can check that may also cause all these problems?

    Thanks for reading

well i do know that the click you heard near the e-brake is the BCM, body control module. and it could possibly be bad.

but this could also be fuses/wiring or anything of that nature. best of luck.

well every time I hear that click that's when everything stops working correctly. would the BCM cause all these problems? I have checked the fuses a couple times. I will find the wiring diagram for the BCM and check them. is there a way I can test the bcm to make sure that needs to be replaced? sorry just on a limited budget right now. would that also cause the locks to not work sometimes and the security light to stay on sometimes?

all of those issues do fall under BCM. but iirc BCM have to be programmed to your car from the dealer. soo yeah.

? it may have been a loose wire or something.I haven't had a problem since Monday night all the tinkering with the wires, fuses, and relays. also I think the kicking and swearing helped. I will be keeping an eye on it.

Thanks for your help. I think my next car of truck is going to either be another S10 or something older

hmm yeah idk. gps have some strange electrical gremlins. if my battery is low or even when nixon was tuning my car, the doors would lock and unlock themselves all by their self. it's strange.

the gps unit is part of an audiovox security system that I have no fob for it. there was a bunch of wires that were cut on the system so I capped all the loose wires and soldered all the connections. sometime I would like to take the whole system out of the car since it still has the factory system in the car. either that or just deal with it till the car is paid off and get something else I'm sick of dealing with that car. OH also some dumbass backed into my car again. That makes 3 times now I get to find a taillight and repaint the bumper on that side again. once on the drivers side twice on the passenger side.... I freaking hate these people in this apartment complex at least leave a freaking note.

ok well I went on vacation put on 3100miles total. everything worked fine till I got in wisconsin then it decided not to work. it's kinda hard to defrost a windshield without using the defroster. it's also a real big pain when driving at 2am then you turn the blower motor on and the headlights shutoff @ 60mph on a back road(yeah that was fun). and the whole way home the stereo was fading randomly. So my question is do I have to have it programmed by the dealer or is there a way I can do it myself? I have read there is two ways to do it but I cant afford to be without a car right now. This is what I found so far....
    Use this procedure after replacing:

    Passlock™ Sensor
    BCM
    PCM
    Learn Procedures
There are two available methods to perform the programming procedure:

A 10 minutes procedure which requires a Tech 2 and a techline terminal.
A 30 minutes procedure which does not require the use of any tools.
    10 Minute Learn Procedure
    Tools Required
    Tech 2
Techline terminal with current Service Programming System (SPS) software
Connect the Tech 2 to the vehicle.
Select "Request Information" under "Service Programming".
Disconnect the Tech 2 from the vehicle and connect it to a techline terminal.
On the techline terminal, select "Theft Module Re-Learn" under "Service Programming".
Disconnect the Tech 2 from the techline terminal and connect it to the vehicle.
Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
Select "VTD Re-Learn" under "Service Programming".
Attempt to start the engine, then release the key to ON, vehicle will not start.
Observe the SECURITY telltale, after approximately 10 minutes the telltale will turn OFF, the vehicle is now ready to relearn the Passlock™ Sensor Data Code and/or password on the next ignition switch transition from OFF to CRANK.
Turn OFF the ignition, and wait 5 seconds.
Start the engine, the vehicle has now learned the password.
With the Tech 2 scan tool, clear any DTCs.

    30 Minute Learn Procedure
Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
Attempt to start the engine, then release the key to ON, vehicle will not start.
Observe the SECURITY telltale, after approximately 10 minutes the telltale will turn OFF.
Turn OFF the ignition, and wait 5 seconds.
Repeat steps 1 through 4 two more times for a total of 3 cycles/30 minutes, the vehicle is now ready to relearn the Passlock™ Sensor Data Code and/or passwords on the next ignition switch transition from OFF to CRANK.

    ..........
Anyone try this and know if it works?

went to the dealership today not so sure I would ever take my car there. gave me a cost of somewhere between $500 and $700 but said he thought the BCM was a plug n play module... said it just needs to learn he key but then said if I bought it somewhere else they would program it for about $125. He spent about 10mins looking on the computer said he couldn't find anything about programming the BCM.
the only thing he said that sounded promising was that the relearn procedure is correct

confused anyone know anything more then the service dept and the cadillac pontiac gmc dealership?????

I have the same issues minus stereo fading. However from the research i did it led me to believe its the ignition switch. $80 part, maybe 2 hour install. Have you ruled that out?

do you also have the security issues? like the door locks not working correctly, security light staying on and the clicking noise from the BCM when the issues start and stop?

ok now I'm just going to sit in the closet and slowly rock back and forth while curling my non existing hair.

Sorry but your post made me lol. I dont have security issues, yet. It all started with the car not starting right, then the dic started flickering and now is off, then the heater went out (works on 5) and shuts off headlights when on, and last (so far) when the heated seat is on all kinds of relay clicking going on inside the dash. Not that with the other items on relays arent clicking but with the heated seat it sounds like some sh!ts really broken. Im going to change the ignition switch on Sat. I pray to 10lbs 8oz baby Jesus that it takes care of it.

Quick edit, Ive posted this in general disc. but do you have a faint whistle that follows engine rpms? Like bad ground whistle?

my DIC does not flicker. when I'm having the problems the blower motor doesn't work at all but it does shut off the lights. and I don't have a whistle at all. Mainly the problem is with the security system and everything related the car starts fine with a slight delay maybe a second of cranking sometimes. the stupid security light and door lock issues bother me almost as much as the lights shuting off and the blower motor not working and the fading of the stereo speakers. The click I hear from the BCM makes me wear every time cuz I know something is going to happen that I will not like. the not starting I think is a fuel situation taking a moment to build pressure

oh well I will buy a new BCM and try the steps to program it myself cross fingers and pray

My '02 doing same. Starts fine, automatic headlights come on. Blower would only work on "5" but doing so would turn headlight off. Was able to turn headlights on using the manual switch. NOW, blowe does not work at all. In the past I have replaced the resister pack (under pass side dash all the way to firewall, two connectors, three screws) 3 times and it took care of the problem short term. Now blower does not work at all. DIC fades. Heads Up display works.... CLicking PCM... Eagerly waiting to see if new PCM is solution.

Would a bad ac/heat control unit effect other items? Such as DIC, Headlights, Heated seats? I know they are related as far as end result wiring goes, but it doesnt make sense to me why if one goes others follow unless it stems from the root of the initial wiring of the items I.E Ignition switch.
I dont know Im new to these cars but Im trying to think logically, generally speaking.

im just saying i had tried replacing lights blew it up and i had some of the same things you got going on. replaced it and it all went back to normal, like i could use dimmer switch to control fan, so just unplug it first and see if problems persist
