My gas gauge has been acting up lately.....after it gets past 3/4 tank it floats anytime while I'm driving......but here's the weird thing.....if I put it in neutral while waiting at a light or park it at night.....it starts working and showing the correct fuel level......I already bought a fuel level sender, just never have a chance to put it in cause of work.....What do you guys think it could be since it works correctly in those conditions......??

I think its coincidental I would replace the fuel sender and go from their. Also check the wiring to the pump.

I have had a similar problem with my 97 gp. I have replace the level sensor and tried a different cluster but the gauge still does not work. Could it be a broken wire or bad ground?? It's been like this for a long time and i use my trip meter but it's just getting very irritating especially when I go out of town. Any advice will help

Not hard at all, Remove your gas cap.Take out your carpet in your trunk. Take off the fuel pump cover. Spray it down with WD40 to clean the area. Disconnect fuel lines. Remove electrical connectors. Rotate/Take off fuel pump locking ring. Lift out fuel pump. Disconnect old sensor from electrical connector. Slide out old sensor. Slide in new sensor and route wires exactly like the old sensor. Reverse the order to put it back in. It might help to put some dielectric grease on the gas tank ring so it rotates easily on the fuel tank to make it rotate easier.

When your sender moves with rpm, I'd think that's a bad ground.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.
