Re: Strange Yellow Residue on Oil Cap?
whats the verdict hippo??????
Re: Strange Yellow Residue on Oil Cap?
I changed the oil and it wasn't milky and there was no metal that I could see.
I don't even know where to look for the lim gasket, but I'm sure its metal.
I'm sure it was just moisture.
Re: Strange Yellow Residue on Oil Cap?
i tried tellin this kid 3 times where to look for the LIM gasket. BETWEEN the INTAKE and the HEAD. or to make it simple, look at the front valve oover and just follow it down. either you're gonna see the thin piece of metal or a fat piece of plastic between them. one or the other.
i just do not comprehend how you can say, "yes im sure it's metal" without seeing that it's metal.

Alrite. We gone try one mo 'gain.
Go to vehicle, said Grand Prix, open le hood.
Step 2: Look at your vehicle from this prospective: http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l1...0/DSCF0398.jpg
STEP 3: remove engine cover if you have it, and look at the valve cover. seen here NOTE: gasket can even be seen this far away, but just in case, the following steps will help you get a close up ;): http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l1...0/DSCF0399.jpg
Step 4: go to the top right of your front valve cover, as seen in the above pic, and LOOK where my finger is pointing. do you see that shiny stuff between the intake and the head? THAT sir is your gasket. seen here: http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l1...0/DSCF0402.jpg
AND ALSO. seen here, this time no fingers. remember, baby steps. http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l1...0/DSCF0401.jpg

Get an AEM that doesn't look like a marshmallow.
Re: Strange Yellow Residue on Oil Cap?
Hippo..
You are doing the right thing in this case. That milkiness is not necessarily coolant. It could be simple condensation between the hot/cold weather patterns and that you don't drive the car very far.
A significant amount of water/coolant in the oil after being run would show itself as the oil appearing milky throughout.

What color are the intake gaskets?
Black, or gray/silver?
And if they are black...is there a good amount of build up around them or do they appear wet?
