Well after 4 months of hearing an annoying exhaust leak and not being able to find it or fix it at any attempt and taking a performance hit on turbo lag i finally got pissed enough to tear it all apart till i found something. And by god look what i found!

Yes id say that might be the source of your exhaust leak.

Turbos have a bad habit of doing that. Get ZZP's 304 stainless rear Plog (if it will work with your setup) as it holds up a lot better than cast iron.

    Whoops.

A little duct tape and bailing wire will fix that right up.

I'd just have a shop weld that up better, and see if your after market weld will hold better than a factory one.

I also wonder if the header wrap caused it. Seen it a few times where header wrap causes damage to the parts it's used on.

i'm just going to cut it completely off since i don't have an egr and clean it up to put a new flat welded piece back on. and unfortunately i have the ct kit so i can't do the zzp plog. If i ever get caught up on $ i've been wanting to change to the zzp setup.

Actually it wasnt. You would just hear it pop at almost rhythmic intervals. Other than that it wasnt bad, just annoying. Im glad I got to hear it though 'cause now I know another area to check.

Ive had several cars here lately that have challenged my troubleshooting abilities. While its frustrating for both me and the owner, I love it because Im learning new approaches, new ways to map things out in my mind.

Got the egr tube removed and the hole patched. Took a couple hours to get everything back together and it sounds like a normal car again! only now i can hear a ticking noise from my valve train and i'm not sure whats causing it. I really don't want to have to pull the heads
