Re: what do i need.. for a 13.5 second car
if you drive like a normal person your tranny will be fine on a 3.4, if you drive like a re re then yea say bye to your tranny
Re: what do i need.. for a 13.5 second car
This thread is too long for the question.
Theres a million different ways to get there.
Traction would be your best bet.
Guy did bolt ons and slicks and resulted in 13.67 or something around there.
On a 3.8 pulley.

I was going to add that the first transmission wasn't actually dead when i had it built. Flexplate cracked and it wasn't but $2,000 to get a built trans with upgrades AND the flexplate replaced vs $600 for just the flexplate replaced.
The stock trans was worn pretty badly. Clutches were charred, Input/output was missing a tooth here and there, 4th gear had half the splines missing. :th_laugh-pointup:
The 2nd and 3rd were rebuilds of the built trans, TQ converter **** the bed the first rebuild, Channel plate gasket and another i can't quite remember went the 2nd time and car was losing 2qt/day in trans fluid, which made the tq converter **** the bed again.
4th trans is a charm though, added a trans cooler on the 1st rebuild of the built trans.
2-3 times daily 1-2nd gear WOT and we're still cookin'

Every bit of this.
Whatever you do to the car...if you don't have double, or sometimes triple what your putting into mods, then you shouldn't really tearing into it...because when you spend $200, you end up spending $300+...

Headers, Intake, Tune...3.8"
Slicks.
13.6 @ 99.
Also, if that car had rockers and a 3.4"...lol, 13 flat?
I ran 13.8 @ 99 with PEM's/3" DP & Exhaust/3.5"/1.84 Rollers...but on street tires and no tunez...
Re: what do i need.. for a 13.5 second car
all it took for my first 13.5x was headers, intake,1.9 YT's, 3.4, UD pulleys and slicks. about $700. did it at 102 mph.

Pretty sure the OP was thinking of running the 1.9's or 1.95's with a cam.
Granted, I'm sure you could do that on a VS, XP, or S1X...but OMG, lift.
