    PF47 vs. PF52

ACD PF52 being for the 4.3 Vortec...only problem there is if your engine/trans mounts fail, your oil filter gets crushed.

    Worth it?

    IMO, not really.

Which is why I always use a PF47 every 3k, regardless.

Long filter here, but if I didn't have solid mounts I wouldn't run it... Worth it for me cause I just change it when it's dirty and it seems to take longer to get dirty with the longer filter, who'd have thought huh? And you get maybe an extra cup or so of oil capacity which is always better. I ran my wife's old 04 grand am with the long filter and same oil I use(mobil 1 extended performance) and would go to 10-12k on oil changes.

Moving this one to general tech, oil filters are the same for all GM V6's from the era we deal with.

I run the 52's (Long) filters. I have 2 grand prix's and an 05 Jimmy. All 3 vehicles will run that filter, so I buy them by the case at the GM dealership.

I'm using WIX part # 51036 long filter and swap it out every 3,000 miles. I've been running Mobil 1 High Mileage 10W-30 Advanced Full Synthetic Motor Oil since around 100,000 miles and have 155,500 now with a very happy engine. Only "small leak" I have is my oil pan gasket and it's not losing enough to warrant this PITA replacement at this time. I change my oil every 6 or 7 thousand miles...
