well i know that as cars get older they start to creak and groan more.most people say just gotta live with it.i tend to think that even noises can be fixed.i also know that if i had pictures and video it will help more..im working on that.anyway this noise seems to come from under the hood, but you only hear it when you are in drive and stopped with foot on brake.it sounds like a heavy vibration being transfered throughout the car, driver door vibrates.its also rather loud.but as soon as you hit the gas and go all is normal and the loudness and vibration disappears until you stop again at a light or something.if you put in park or even reverse hardly noticeable.also i have noticed that if i am in drive and stopped and i pop the hood most of the noise goes away,so is it my hood.ive also noticed that the hood doesnt seem to line up completely flush with the front end.also while we are on the front end,my friend whom does mechanic work says these pontiacs are notorious for becoming not so tight and loosing clips and such.what should i do?have you experienced this?

this is the how to for the engine mount, http://www.grandprixforums.net/engine_mount.php the trans mount is on the other side and easier to change, not that the motor mount is all that hard to do.

and this is what a bad trans mount looks like and how to change it too. look for part 2 Buick Regal Transmission mount pt.1 - YouTube

i just did both, took less than 2 hours to change.

pop your hood and watch the engine as you shift it from park to drive, then to reverse, see if the engine is moving A LOT, if so the mounts are bad.

MOV01274.mp4 video by hulkman41 - Photobucket scotty this is a little video of how it sounds when its in drive and stopped.the sound quality is not great, but if you can really hear it will sound like a steady pounding vibration coming from the engine area.it causes the door and dash to vibrate too,so youve got to block that out.and trust if you do hear it,its 10x louder.but only when in drive and stopped.if you pop the hood the noise is not as bad or if you are in park, reverse,or driving not as bad.so leads me to think that something under hood is rubbing on hood or wheel well area and sending that vibration, pounding sound.
