sounds about right for full coverage and under 25. im sure it'll drop once u turn 25. we've stayed with progressive for so long because we have accident forgiveness. that way if one of us are at fault we get a break. luckily, my grandad's been having the wrecks and he hasn't been at fault and it happened to our 94 jeep. its just a beater we dnt care.

I don't know why these threads pop up all the time.

Someone telling you what they pay isn't going to help you. Insurance is based on age, value of car, driving record, usage of car, zip code where car is parked, provider, optional coverages, and so on and so on.

My mother has a 04gtp and pays 50 a month for full coverage with a 100 dollar deductible. I have the same car just a couple years newer and I'm posting 128 a month with a 1000 dollar deductible. Is my insurance really gunna drop that much when I'm 25? "tomorrow"

(I work in auto insurance developing rating algorithms)

First off, coverage varies GREATLY state to state... The same insurance in NJ is about 5 times what it is in Michigan... Its crazy.

Secondly, many MANY MANNNNNNY factors go into insurance. My company will give you a 46% discount if you have a stellar credits score. Also one of the base location rates if you lived across the street from my company are 3-5times less than what you would pay if you lived 3 miles down the road.

The new auto algorithm I am building takes in account 38 input factors to generate an auto rate... and in the world of auto insurance my company is quite simple when it comes to inputs.

    THANK YOU!

I didn't even mention discounts. I get discounts for being with State Farm for so many years. I got multi-car discount. Save driver discount. Multi-policy discount.

Michigan has been historically quite low, but there are some really bad hot spots in the urban areas that have some downright crazy high rates. For most of us suburb dwelling people we see some fairly normal rates right in the middle of the national average over the last few years. The insurance rates in michigan are not so much being driven by the nofault clause, its crazy personal injury laws (currently Michigan requires all drivers to purchase unlimited value personal injury protection) that makes your auto rates so high. Also there is a direct relation to the amount of claims made as there is to the state of the economy... More poor people = more claim volume and larger claim dollar amounts.

1997 GTP (insurance rates it as a GT)
I tried this out in our system the other day.. its not true.... all GTP's are rated the same as GT's at least in our data source. You may find that anyone that uses the data source we use will rate the same way as well.

You guys would all be extremely surprised to learn how insurance companies actually operate at a loss most of the time.. This year alone the average profit for all Michigan P+C insurance companies was a 9% loss.

I don't know about that, I do know that Dearborn is probably the number one most expensive place in all of Michigan for Auto Insurance. Not Dearborn, the 48126 zip code.

    I have:

Full Coverage w/$250 deduct on my 00GPGT
Full Coverage w/$250 deduct on my 03 CV Sport
liability, uninsured, prop. damage/bodily injury on both my 95 Bonneville and 87 Nissan Stanza
Accident-free, multi-car, married, over 30, home policy w/ same company

    $136/month- $1,632/yr

Been w/ State Farm since I started driving back in '94. Considering how many cars I have insured (I had 6 at one point a few years back) I don't think that's totally out of line.

And yes, it does seem to vary. Luckily my ins. didn't go up when my wife Nascar'd our 95 Thunderbird into the concrete bridge guardrail. They even gave me a good price after I bought it back (after deduct walked away w/ $3200 and kept the car). We'll see what happens when I get it back on the road and reinsure it.
