okay we replaced the power steering pressure line several months ago hoping to have it fix the hard left turn problem which it didnt. we have now purchased and installed a new rack and pinion but can not get the power steering pressure line reattached. anybody have any tips for this more then difficult part??? can get the lower line attached but the upper bolt acts like its threading then you put a wrench on it and it pops out!

Go have a smoke or a drink and come back to it, when you calm down it will go on like cake.

I know as dumb as this sounds, but you don't want to get pissed off and break something on it. I have learned from working on cars a lot that if something doesn't go right take a step back and calm down.

when we put my buddys rack and pin. in his car, this literally was the longes part of the job. the fitting has to be lined up perfectly. we had to bend the line a little to get it to line up.

i had problems with that part to but if you take a little break then try again. Maybe have someone on top while you are under the car maybe they can see something you're not seeing and will help you get the line on right.

i always turn lines nuts like those backwards till i feel the line nut drop a thread, then turn it to the right, slowly, till i feel its threading in right, you dont want to cross thread one of them.

i had no problem getting my lines back on the rack, one i had to wiggle a bit to square it up, but it went right in. the bottom one went right in.

i removed my lines from the bottom too, and put them back on from the bottom,

i know the write up say to get them from the top but it was cake from the bottom. and a lot less stuff to remove. ( well cake as far as a part of doing a rack)

We had no probs installing it the first time. Apparently 1 line got cross threaded with the first install and won't go into the new rack. New return line has been purchased thank goodness they are cheap! Agree install from the bottom is much easier especially with the cradle dropped. Needless to say return line has been then biggest obstacle in this job.

further update! replacement rack and pinion that we bought came stripped and then stripped out our return line. after getting another rack and pinion and return line, it all went together smoothly.
