Im leaning towards hydraulic as it seems to provide the smoothest ride from my research...

if all your other suspension and other crap is up to snuff you wont even be able to tell the difference.

Im running solid mounts on 120k old struts and springs and I cant tell at all. I am also modded a little bit so its a smidge rougher at idle with a few misfires here and there.

well i have pretty decent suspension at 106k miles and i had solid motor and tranny mounts at one point and it vibrated at about 60ish mph the worst, i thought it was a tire out of balance for the longest.

so imo, yes you can tell.

but on the same token, i had the best feeling shifts with those solid lowers. a WOT second gear shift felt amazing with solids. just sayin.

So why do you prefer the solid rubber over the hydraulic? Durability?

me, yes, that way I wont ever have to deal with them ripping open and slinging fluid everywhere and causing another mess.

Right, I mean you can get comfort and what not with the stock mounts.

Or you can get a solid mount, a few more benefits I guess, and the security of knowing when it breaks you don't have fluid everywhere. But in all honesty, you should replace your mounts before that happens anyway.

It's all up to you sir. My car is a DD, I like smoothness. If it was just my toy, sure I'd do solid mounts and put up with it.

Yea the little vibration at that speed is driving me nuts... i think i am going to go hydraulic just to be safe to hopefully eliminate the little vibration from the old mount.. i just hit the 100k mark a little while ago, and would be willing to bet they are stock mounts yet.... speaking of which... any idea what the stock ones are? Im sure ill see when i pull it out, but just curious. Thanks for the input guys.

I don't know if this is true for all mounts but:

Some if not all "Solid" mounts are not actually solid if you cut them open. They basically take the oil out but don't replace it with anything. There is still a cavity in them they will compress over a period of time.

Good luck actually getting a solid mount. I tried 3 Anchor brand labeled "Solid" mounts and shook them. All of them except the last one made a sound like it was fluid filled. After I drilled into it to make my own solid mount (Because I wanted to check also) I noticed that is was still filled with oil!

Personally this is what I would do. Here is a link to how to make solid mounts. You can fill them with 3M Window Weld or Black RTV. I choose to go with the Black RTV because I didn't want a supper harsh mount. The only bad thing is it's a mess and it takes almost 3-4 weeks for them to fully cure.

    Here is the link:

I'm installing mine this week with new CVs and probably going to get poly upper mounts. I will post back how it feels.

Make sure you post back, let us know what you went with and if it helped your vibration.

Just installed the mount... ran into some frustrating issues getting the motor to line up, but finally got it. I jacked it at a retarded angle or something... anyways.. went with hydraulic. Took it out for test ride and from what I can tell, the vibration is history

yeah it helps to have a friend push the engine around a bit to line up the mount for sure, ( you did unhook the dog bones right?) cant wait to do my trans mount, i did the motor mount a week or so ago. i should have done both at the same time, but the motor mount was real bad and i did it in a hurry after work one day.
