Ok so I love my GP, but I'm forced to face the facts that it is not in the shape it once was. My airbag light is on/ has been on for a little while. Specifically it will the light will come on, it will flash a few times, and then just stay on.
1: Does this denote what is wrong with the airbag, or is that the general "something is wrong with your airbag" reaction (e.g. clock spring, something else)?
2: Inspection is quickly approaching and I'm on the extremely tight college budget. A check for Ramen might bounce haha). Do I need to have this fixed before I take it in? Its an 02 if that makes a difference either way? Obviously I'm not thrilled to not have airbags, but will it pass?

Yes, when the light flashes and/or stays on there is an issue w/ the system. Have it scanned and see what the code(s) are.

And I have a feeling that it will not pass safety that way. As soon as they see the light my bet is it will fail. At least it would here.

It could be the clockspring. If you have cruise control has it stopped working?

ill check the cruise control today. I drove home from college yesterday and the light was doing all sorts of stuff. IT was off for a while, then flashed almost the rest of the whole way home. Any ideas?

under the driver seat is wires, look for the yellow one, see if its unplugged, or unplug it and make sure its not corroded, and under the front pass seat, under the rug, is a air bag module that is screwed to the floor, it gets corroded where its mounted to the floor and is the ground for it, remove it, sand it and the floor clean, some of the units come apart, if yours does, open it and clean the corrosion off the inside too.

if these things dont help its best to just have it scanned so you not throwing money at the wrong parts, listed above is a free check and may help or may not.

im having the same problem, bought the car with every light on the dash lit up, im down to a air bag light, and im going to have to take it in to be scanned as well one of these days. my radio controls on the wheel dont work, but my cruise control works, so my car may need a clock spring, as ive found out through my own research.

and i actually just passed inspection with the air bag light lit up too,(in NJ) so you never know if you will pass unless you try. worst that can happen is you fail.
