Replaced the lock cylinder with a new one. NO problems getting it in. It turned from the ON to start and to ACC just fine. However, I had to give it some (but not much) to get it to go into Off. Now I CANNOT get it to turn to ACC or ON or Start. The key comes right out. I tired removing the solionod plunger and trying it in neutral. No amount of pressure, fiddling, or cussing at it will get it to turn. I think I may have a defective lock cylinder and the tumbler mechanism which locks the cylinder may be binding up...A LOT. Any suggestions as to what to do. Unless I can get it to turn to start I cannot remove the lock cylinder. Help!!!

NO, but the lock cylinder slides into the swtich and turns there. The key does not turn inside the lock cylinder only makes the cylinder turn inside the switch.

I got it out, a couple really good hits with a ball peen hammer, some PB, some wiggling and it came out.

Upon a better investigation of the lock cylinder it does not match the one I took out. Stupid Advanced Auto parts, I hate aftermarket stuff, it is never right.

Are you sure that your steering wheel didn't lock which would prevent you from turning the ignition until you took the bind off the locking mechanism.

hey hey hey...i work there. dont call us stupid lol those cylinders we carry are dam good ones and nobody has problems with em unless they start playing with the key to see if it turns before they even put it in, which junks the whole thing up when you do that. and like stealthee said, is the steering wheel in the locked postition?

I'm sure it was not the steering wheel being locked that caused it. I tried to move it around but to no avail. I did get it out as I noted. The cylinder was different than the original one. Not by much but some. Enough to be a problem any how.

I didnt mean to single out Advanced or anyone, personally, I like advanced over the other stores in my town. I have had TOO many problems with aftermarket parts in general, poor fit, lack of quality, etc...Anymore if I don't feel comfortable with an aftermarket part, I do OEM or High Quality aftermarket. Too many bad experiences, this is another one. I'm going to see if I can get one just like the one in the car, meaning OEM. I use enough aftermarket parts on a daily basis so I think I have a valid opionion, I've been screwed countless times by aftermarket junk. I dont EVER go near an reman starter or alternator. I get OEM reman ones, never had any issues. Aftermarket on the other hand,well....lots.

FYI, the BWD box says Made in Mexico, enough said.
