Ok I have two 97 GTP's, One is black and one is green. (trust me easier to keep track of, lol) So black car wasn't running right, put green car computer in it along with other parts to de-mod it, still wasn't right, found hole in piston, sub frame from green car went into black car along with the green car computer again...
turn key the first time with new setup, fuel pump primes, I get the normal key in on position stuff, check engine light checks, etc. but no start, cycle the key a few times and it fires right up, im like ok, maybe im developing a starter issue........I started and shut it off maybe 3-4 times until now when turning to the cranking position, you get the click from the passenger side dash area and power cut to the dash and what not but no engine cranking again had someone else try as i listened under hood, nothing. tested with multimeter at starter, full 12 volts at starter main feed line, nothing at small solenoid wire EVER, had someone hold key in cranking position as I wiggled wires and kept my meter at the solenoid wire, so there is NOT a short in the starter wiring or anything, checked and cleaned the battery terminals again.
Cycled the key probably 100 times and nothing still. Tried leaving the battery disconnected for a while and still nothing. Im starting to think its a passlock issue. Unless its a ignition switch issue. Wondered what you all thought about this. It's weird that it didn't work like the very first time, then it worked for 3-4 times, then all the of the sudden it stopped working again...I have a remote starter I was thinking of putting on the car anyway, so maybe Ill start with the passlock bypass then go from there....
I have done things like change out a igntion cylinder in a 2000 cavi in which you have the do the re-learn. so i am familiar with that, but I get no flashing security light or anything like that. and if i remember correct, even when you have a normal security issue like that, it will crank, just not fire. So Im kinda stumped on why no power to starter....
