When I got the car, it started fine with the key. Started fine with the viper remote start.

After about a month, it started having problems starting with the key. I'd have to move the key back and forth between acc / start to get it to start, sometimes jiggle it. It would start, eventually. It would still start no problem with the alarm.

Now, the key won't start the car at all. I can wiggle it, move it between acc / start all I want. Will not start with the key. However, it will still start with the remote start.

Where do I start? I'm mechanically inclined, but I have no idea when it comes to this car, used to the older cars without electronics in every corner of the car.

    Any help would be appreciated!

EDIT: I can get in, put the key and and drive away. Just annoying that I have to use the remote to start it and not the key.

    Thanks,
    Robert.

Nevermind, spent the last 5 hours or so just fiddling around with cleaning the ignition switch. There was corrosion and I sanded it down. It starts every effin time with the key now. I had to do it IN the car, because the immobilizer and alarm are all tied into that harness. What a nightmare.

The only thing that sucks is, the rebound mechanism part doesn't work anymore. But anyone that drives the car will find that out quite quick when they start over turning the starter. Broke a little part off the white peice on the inside of the switch. 13 year old plastic = brittle.

Now just gotta find out why my batteries keep going toast on this car. I think I have a parasitic drain somewhere, and I'm thinking its either the alarm or the immobilizer.

Gonna take the alternator off tomorrow and go get it tested just to be sure, and probably get the battery replaced under warranty.
