So, I got my Grand Prix used with 140k+ miles. Is there any way to tell if the LIM has been done?
Thank you,
Scott

look around to see if you can see coolant leaking. just below the UIM or S/C whichever you have, there will be puddles of coolant sitting in the grooves of the LIM if you are having problems with a leak. if not and everything looks dry, you should be good to go. hopefully tho, at 140K it is done already.
I've been checking the oil every couple days to check for coolant but, I haven't seen any yet. I have only had the car since Thursday night. I'm planning to do an oil change in the next couple of days. That should give me a better idea of the shape of the oil.
Thank you,
Scott
Follow the bracket that holds the driverside uppoer motor mount to the engine. Look right where the valve cover meets the LIM at that bracket. Do you see a black gasket or aluminum?
If you see an aluminum gasket, you are all set. If not, prep for an LIM gasket swap.
Looks like its been done. One less thing for me to worry about.
