We bought a 2006 GT last night - thank you to everyone who repsonded to my earlier post.

My wife drove it to work this morning then called me and said the temp gage was about half way up - is that OK? Wow am I supposed to know...I'm 50 plus miles away from her and it........ She did say the Trans temp is 194 degrees.

I was planning on selling the '03 but my '97 Sedan is in rather rough condition really rough condition...might have to part with it or part it or park it...decisions decisions

my car runs directly in the middle to the 3rd notch in the summertime. depending on when the t-stat opens up. so she should be fine.

Perfectly normal for a bit of driving. Halfway up should be something like 195* for the coolant I think.

194* is not unusual for the transmission. As long as it stays under 230* it'll be happy.

If it was my new car, I'd do a coolant flush, transmission flush, supercharger oil change, and motor oil change right off the bat. You never know what kind of care has been taken care of it before you got it. If it's all stock fluids (likely), they're 5 years old and it's time to swap them out for fresh. Fresh dextron will also likely drop the transmission temp by a degree or two.
Irridium spark plugs last 100k mi and work just as well as copper. Copper is a waste on N/A and only lasts 15k mi. Don't use Platinum.
Use 195* tstat unless you can thoroughly explain why not; 99.9% don't need a lower temp.
Almost any oil filter, ever, is of higher quality than ACDelco. Spend $6+.

    Super! Thanks for the responses!

I plan to change fluids. Supercharger Oil change - how do I do that, well maybe I'll do a search...

We get home last night at 10-10:30 an dmy daughter says, "Dad my window won't go up...." On the '99 Coupe the driver window switch does not click when you push the up, it clicks in the down position but not up -always something...

We drove the car on a 700 mile trip this past weekend - AWESOME!

Comfortable, smooth, just wonderful. That was mostly from the passenger seat. The wife did let me drive it a bit...
