Im getting a low to high pitch whine coming from my Supercharger as I accellerate and its getting worse. I have a 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP. This started about a week ago and I just changed the coupler in the Snout and I used GM Supercharger Oil about the same time. I think it might be the Rotor bearings going bad but Im not sure. Any answer as to what this could be will be greatly appreciated. A friend of mine said that when I changed the oil I cleaned out what was keeping the bearings from failing, but the bearing problem would have showed up anyway. I have 137,000 miles on the engine and I keep the fluids top off and changed regularly. No leaks at all.

If not.... how do you know its not one of your accessories failing?

Yep it's the bearings, mine did the same. If you want to isolate it completly to the S/C then just take off the belt and drive it. See if it's making the same noise. But chances are it is the bearings.

Simple check is pull the belts and roll the pulleys, every pulley except the balancer should roll smoothly, if it grinds, hesitates, or has a rough spot it needs to be replaced.
Just a check before you go thru the hassle to replace the SC bearing to find out its still there and it was just a $5.00 idler pulley

I removed the belt to the Supercharger and the noise went away. Does anyone know where I can purchase a good used or remanufactured SC or instructions on how to remove and rebulid the supercharger I have already.Any help would be greatly appreciated. I call Eaton and they sent me to Magnusson Superchargers. They completely replace everything but the housing but they want $1100 for the one they rebuild and to me that's a bit to much.

My supercharger has never made this type of noise and as I stated when I removed the SC belt the loud noise/wine has stopped.

    Can we get a video?

Makes for a much easier diagnoses process.
