I am pretty sure my cat needs replacing on my 2001 GTP, slight smell of rotten eggs every once in awhile and lurching when coming off of a long high speed expressway drive.

    1. Does mt 2001 GTP have one or two cats?

    2. Would getting a magnaflow cat improve my performance any, yet still be as quiet if I just replaced the cat with stock one?

    3. Should I get the o2 sensors replaced as well?

The rear O2 sensor serves basically no function... I dont see a need to replace it.

A Grand prix has one "GM" cat... They are basically the same on all passenger cars like yours...

I would most likely straight pipe the guy.. If you can get around the emmissions in town, you would have no problems. If you are not going to straight pipe one, get a catted aftermarket downpipe... would be only slightly more expensive than replacing stock cat with a junky stock DP.

    ^^That.

Totally depends on where you live. For the price GM...or most any exhaust shops would want for a new converter installed...you can get a bolt in 3" ZZP Catless DP for half the price if not more. Better performance...better MPG's...the only problem Dark Horizon didn't mention if that since you have an '01...you NEED to the rear o2 sensor since they actually serve a purpose. If it was a '97-'00...sure you could just get rid of it...no issues.

Like I said...I'd just get a bolt-in 3" catless DP...and live with the check engine light or have it tuned out by someone locally...and I know for sure there are tuners in the Illinois area.
