So I have a 99 GTP, and I had started to do a bunch of stuff to it, and am now wanting to do more as I have taken a few months break doing stuff, now going to start it up again.

According to the Safely Modding your 3800 Powered Car, it is the following:

    Item / Completed?
    New Spark Plugs / Yes
New Spark Plug Wires / Yes
Oil and Oil filter / No
    Fuel Filter Change / No
    New Tstat / Yes
    LIM gasket/elbow / No
    Transmission Drop Pan / No
    Brakes and Rotors / Yes
    SC Oil change / Yes
    Flip dog bones / No
    CAI / Yes
SD headers and downpipe, ubend delete / Yes
    Reptile PCM / Yes
    Ported TB / No
    Ported SC / No
    3.4" / Yes
And the rest on is No.

So now my main question I suppose is...

What do YOU suggest I do as an order of the above and the rest of things that is recommended on that post?

It is greatly appreciated, thanks for your time reading and I can't wait to see all of your great responses.

Yeah, do all the maintenance first, last thing you need is to spend money on mods, then have a leak/problem.

Ported TB isnt really needed until you're running a pretty decent setup, and you will need to retune for it, since it will throw off the MAF readings.

First thing you should do is replace the fuel filter. Every single car I have owned, the filters have been clogged, and gunky as hell. Always a good idea to run a cleaner through after too, flush out anything in the lines/injectors.

Perhaps I can do the oil, oil filter, and fuel filter tomorrow. That should only cost about $50 correct?

Any important tips other than be careful with the fuel filter?

Don't use a Fram oil filter. Get a Wix or Delco.

I got all of the stuff...

Went to go take the fuel filter out, and the freaking bolts are like rusted together from the fuel line to the bolt on the filter. Any suggestions? EVERY single thing I do to this cursed car doesn't go smoothly.

IIRC, you can hold the line w/ a wrench so you don't twist if off and turn the filter itself to get it off.

Hell, I don't know, lol... I just figured since they were OEM I'd mention it. I personally run WIX on all my cars except the Vic, and that one get a Motorcraft.

I guess you could go with Purolator as well. Haven't heard many bad things about them. All I know is I stay the heck away from Fram. I like my engines to remain in one piece

I got an ACDelco as the Autozone near me is kind of ridiculous with their stocks. But aside from that, I already used the two wrenches at once (one to keep the fuel line in place and the other to twist the filter) AND WD40 and it wasn't coming off. Should I give up?

Might be time for some PB-Blaster. WD won't touch it.

PB blaster works wonder. Let is just soak, go out and spray it, let it sit for 10m, then spray it again.... You need to let it have time to work. Another thing is to put the wrenches on, and smack one with a hammer. (not hard, just try and shock the nut, so it'll break free)

Yeah, I was going to use PB Blaster, but couldn't find any in the chemical cabinet. Haha. I could have sworn I had some. But I just got back from vacation, I'll try that probably in the morning! Thanks guys.

    Will keep updated.

I put on three coats of PB blaster in ten minute intervals, and still no luck... I tell you this car must not have had any maintenance what so ever, everything I ever try doing whether it is modification or maintenance it never goes smoothly...

I was having problems with mine too. I didn't have pb blaster so I just used wd but I think I ended up using 2sets of vice grips. One was on the nut on the rail and the othe on the one on the filter and there were cranked as tight as I could possibly vice them on and that broke it loose for me. Goodluck with it

I returned the fuel filter. I figured after I rubbed off a few points on the outside of the bolts it was time to throw the towel in and return the filter. I would like it replaced but I'll just end up breaking the damn thing. No way to replace it now, I'd only have like one chance left.

ANYWAY. The oil is changed! What is next in my list of things to do to the car?!!

    Thanks.

Not gonna waste the time and money. If I start feeling something wrong with it and have a real NEED to, then I will.
