OK, so my fiance's 2000 grand prix was having the dreaded "stuck key problem". I assumed it was the BTSI solenoid, so I went to the junkyard and replaced her whole shift assembly with that from a 2002. During removal of the first one, the solenoid to release the gear out of park intermittely worked on and off, and eventually didn't work at all...

I now have the complete swap of shift assembly done, and it didn't fix anything.... key still gets stuck, and it won't shift out of park.

I am having to use the manual release for both the key and to shift out of park...

I also noticed that now the gear indicator light on the DASH is not working.

My brain is totally fried and not sure where to go from here... any advise? could it be a fuse or something simple?

I always assumed that the BTSI Solenoid and Shift Lock were the same things, just referred to by different names... am i wrong, is there a 2nd part I could look into replacing? where is it located?

    PLEASE HELP!!

NEVERMIND, PROBLEM SOLVED! Checked the BTSI fuse and it was blown, replaced, and everything working fine. But i'll never know if that was the original problem in the first placed... o well

Couldn't have been the original problem. Because it worked intermittantly. Which means the fuse was good.

Likely in the process of swapping the car got turned on while the wire was laying on metal. Easy enough to have happen.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.
