    my 97 grand prix gtp has no spark i drove to the store shut it off went to leave and it wouldnt start found that it had no spark can anybody tell me what i should do first?

    How have you figured you have no spark?

    i pulled a wire off and put a spark plug in the wire and had a buddy crank it over no spark

    I'm not so sure that's a valid test, but assuming there's no spark the ICM would be suspect.

    does the rest of the car have power? are you able to take the key out of the ignition?

    EDIT: in order for the spark plug to have spark..you have to have the threads touching the block/and or something for a ground.....

    yup the rest of the car has power the key is fine i was told maybe a crank sensor?

    crank sensor, pcm, ignition module, coils all can do that

    If it was the crank sensor, wouldn't he go through some random stalling first like most of us has. Not sure if this is right, just trying to learn something new. I'm going through the random stalling now and was told most likely was the CPS. That's why I ask.

    I would have him retest the spark issue with the threaded end of the plug grounded...to see if he has spark.........

    If he verified it this way, then we can move on.....

    yeah i grounded out the spark plug it def dose not have spark my buddy tested the wires to the icm and it has power going to it im gonna try replacing the icm

    hey thanks guys i got it fixed it was the icm i got a used one with the coil packs for $20
