Anyone have a parts list/write up/tips for replacing the compressor? I need the A/C to blow as cold as the day my grandfather picked it up off the lot in 1997.

The new compressor comes with two washers. Other than that, it appears simple from what I looked at when mine was done. Can't stand to have it on the lowest setting now.
When replacing the compressor, you'll note that it says warranty voided if you don't change the drier and orifice tube at the same time.
See the Four Sixer Red Ripper thread for the orifice tube location. while you have all these things apart you'll want to change all your o-ring seals at the same time. It's overall pretty straight forward.
Best of luck changing the orifice tube.
Ha my truck still ran on r12 when i sold it 5 years ago. R12 was cheap but hard to find.
I bought my last compressor from a Yard 5 years ago out of a Bonne. It's ran like a champ till this yearLast year i'd have to fiddle with the plug to make it turn on until i put dielectric grease on the plug. This summer the damn thing won't turn on.
