Okay I want everyone honest answer here. I very tight with my money, so I 'm having a very hard time spending the cash on my GTP. Is it really worth it. I'm not the kind of guy who ever to go to the drag strip and race. Street racing, no can't afford the tickets or the insurance from that. The mods in mind will probably only be a stage 2 kit from 3800 performance.($600.00)
After all this is my daily driver 20 miles or so a day, so I ask you pros should I or shouldn't I. Do you ever wish you didn't mod.

    Another two words...........

    Mod Her!!

Just remember one thing...............Rome was NOT built in a day. You can build her up bit by bit. You dont need to throw the whole kitchen sink in at one time. Think about what is most important first and then stick your guns and do it. Sometimes the little things can make the biggest difference.

    Another two!

    Can't stop

Seriously, the only "negative" I can think of is that drive for more. It's not even the power I crave. It's doing something to a machine and watching the reaction and making it work just right. To me machines are an art as well as a science and are to be enjoyed as such. Knowing you made it more than it was before is satisfaction.

Then the power is fun too.

First off, it doesn't appear anyone looked at the Stage two kit, because I saw no comments about price or mods.

3800SC Stage 2 Performance Package Includes:
    Reprogrammed v1.0 PCM
160-degree or 180-degree SLP Performance Parts Thermostat
your choice of either a 3.4” or 3.25” pulley
your choice of either a Press-On Pulley or the upgraded Thrasher Modular Pulley System
Thrasher Cold Air Induction Kit with the option to upgrade to the MSP Cold Air Induction System
    Goodyear Gatorback Supercharger Belt
Optional Coolant Recovery Bottle for 1997-1998 owners
Optional Intake F-duct for 1997-1998 owners upgrading to the MSP CAI System
Optional Thrasher Supercharger Pulley Puller Tool for Rental or Purchase

I'm not going to comment on the mods, because I do too much of that.

If you are really tight on cash then leave it stock. The modding thing is addictive, expensive even with the best intentions, and things can break and or go wrong when you open Pandora's box. I loved my car when it was stock, and I love it now. There were times during different modding stages that it was frustrating, disappointing, exciting, but almost always expensive.

Since I bought my car, I've made some very good friends....and I've learned a TON about what to do with these things....I've got probably thousands of dollars initially spent in mod money in the car.....most of it I've recouped by selling them to upgrade.

But to answer your question, I don't regret it a single bit. Because of this car, and the mods available....I've formed some pretty tight bonds with people across the country. And I wouldn't give it up for anything.

Brian is right about the bonding and friendships. Just know that if you start modding, it's going to cost you, but it's a lot of fun too. Without a big budget, pick your mods wisely.

If you don't have the money, don't even bother modding. Why? Not that your car will be unrealible with a few bolt ons, alot of people do mods and let good maintence go to hell. Then there car ends up falling apart. If you don't have to money to do both, and not let yourself go under (backrupt), don't bother.

If your truely don't have any money, save you money and keep your car maintenced and tuned up. You'd be better off. Now if you have a little money laying around, do a few small mods here and there, take your time. Do a major tune up first, then work on flow mods. Don't bother doing a pulley right away, thats where most people screw up and then they blow there motors. Don't even think about installing a pulley without a scanner of your own. With a good tune up and some flow mods your car should run a little quicker + even get better MPG and your car will be very realible. That kit your looking at on 3800 perf or where ever is NOT a good starter kit and you'll end up with mucho KR problems. You need a good flowing intake/exhaust, cooling, and PCM tweaks at least to be safe.

Once you start getting into bigger mods... pulleys, rockers, ICs, cams, heads, etc... You better make sure to have some money on the side. As the old saying goes, you gotta pay to play. When highly modifying ANY car **** is going to happen. Be ready for it, thats all I can say. I've been around the GP scene since 1999, around 9 years now and i've seen many come and go. Most people wouldn't have any problems if they would just use a little common sense, thats all it really takes to modify any car. Time, research, money, and common sense.

    Good Luck...

All i can say is that it's VERY addictive. You initially start out with a few mods here or there and before you know it youre living paycheck to paycheck, dumping a 1/4 or more of each paycheck into mods. Im not in debt or anything, but my money is usually spoken for when i get paid. So if you're already strapped for cash, listen to Shawn (IronIndian). Mods are a here or there thing, but general maintenance HAS to be adressed or youll be walking to your destination. If you cant mod it comfortably, then save your money. Either way, good luck and hope the mod bug is good to ya!
