so ive heard a lot of dribble about converting a grand prix to rear wheel drive. whats the simplest way to achieve this? i was thinking that putting a grand prix body onto an f-body chassis would be simple enough. can that be done?

    its called a G body.

invest in one, you'll be pimping, but the monte guys will look better doing it.

hell even the regals look better. (not to mention the GN's...)

well i dont care about converting a grand prix to rwd. thats too much effort and too many things can go wrong. im talking about a complete chassis swap. something short of welding up a tube chassis.

Simple answer is no, you cannot put it on an Fbody chassis. Nuff said.

    So not you then.
But if you think you can do it go ahead. What chassis are you going to use?
The thing is a unibody, so good luck with that.
Edit: Matt beat me to it.

who gives a ____ what it looks like when you would only need the chassis...

and believe me, i'm pretty sure no ones wanted to make a FWD car RWD more then me. it would be worlds easier not to 'swap' chassis and just use the driveshaft, transmission, rear end, SOME linkage, and computer if you were doing a manual swap, hell if your gonna do all that, might as well get a SS/Z28 or a Trans Am donor car and make it an LS1 6sd, i mean if your going to have all of that out, might as well go for broke.
Jenny, The '99 Silvermist GTP. With the mod's that matter.
I would rather lose by a mile because I built my own car, than lose by an inch, because someone else built it for me. Your car is your story, so don't let someone else write the book.

go on pro-touring.com a guy did that swap he took a unibody car (lexus), and cut everything down to the strut aprons the floors and the wheel tubs. then said guy grafted a volvo? body onto said chassis.

its doable the floor section needs to be supported so it doesnt fold like a taco. i love how no one will take a shot at this kinda project. i had thought about buying a Chris alliston chassis (1500$) grafting in f body running gear then cutting up a donor gp body and zeus fastening the pieces on. nascar style.
seriously get on protouring.com they do crazy ****

Im looking at using parts from a CTS-V. I have a 2005 gtp and theyre fractions of an inch off. So itll take some fab work but easiest is a CTS V6 (the V8 requires a lot of strengthening) turbo it and use a 6spd tranny (you have to open up the housing). Run the driveshaft through the exaust channel and have either a side exaust or do more fab work to run duelies. The shop I talked to said its totally doable, only thing is cost. For them to do it would cost 20k-30k. But most of that labor. If you know your **** then itll be cheaper and faster (and better looking) than most cars for that cost
