Im havin some shake issues. Seems like it gets worse as I accelerate. Tire shop said I had tire hop, bad tires. So I got new ones...guess what? Yup, still shaky! Front axles look alright, no grease flinging all over anyways. So what's up? This can't be a normal thing, and drives me nuts!

How does it shake? When does it shake??

Does it only do it at certain speeds?? and does it get worse with more throttle???

    Check your wheel bearings.
(Jack the car up, and try to wobble the tire around with your hands at 12 and 6 o'clock.)

After that, check all the motor mounts. Mine shook like a ***** when my bottom(main) motor mount was shot.

    Anyways, thats a start.

I haven't noticed it at certain speeds. From what I've read it may be a front axle. Just not sure how to figure out which one without taking them out. I know to check for grease, tears in the boot ect. Are they a pain to do? Or easier just to have someone else do them. What do ppl charge to do them on average? Lots of questions I know! Lol

Umm...I've always checked them by jacking the car up some, grabbing on the shaft (go ahead and lol) and trying to shake the hell out of it, and trying to rotate it both ways...there shouldnt be any play in it. Also do a visual inspection, IE any grease missing, torn boot etc...

Typically when a driveshaft is bad, it wil pop or click very loudly when turning.

Of course its easier to have someone else do them, but its actually pretty easy to do as long as you have a big ass socket (you can rent a set for free from autozone/advance) and something to pop the axles out with. They are around $80-100 each, and sometimes require a core charge (give them your old ones) The ones I got from Advance Auto parts came with a lifetime warranty too...

Easy way to test if the motor mount is shot (besides just looking at it, which requires pulling the passenger tire) is to grab onto the engine while the car is in park, and try to rock the engine forward. If you can pull it forward fairly easily, then it's time for some motor mounts..

Lol, you said shaft...lol! Ok, seriously.....ill check those things out tomorrow. Im usually a rwd man, but gas prices forced me to go into a fwd. Im actually prety mech inclined, just not a fan of fwd when it comes to working on them.

wheel balancing, tire pressures would be easy things to check. since you just had new tires put on shouldn't be tire balancing or pressure.

i'm leaning towards motor mounts/wheel bearings as well. i would start with checking those

Is your ride lowered? I had the same problem, I had installed sprint lowering springs and it got real shaky on accel, i found out that installing shortend dog bone motor mounts took the shake away.

Sounded like the same problem im having. I replaced tires, tie rods, wheel bearings, and a bent rim. Took car of most of the noise (they were all bad), but I sill have that nagging hopping, cracking, etc. Looks like I will be replacing my CV joint.

Oh and never trust a tire installer, they're only wanna be mechanics.
