So for spring break we got in my grand prix and drove from Minnesota to Colorado straight through (16hrs, 1000 miles). My car (2000 Grand Prix GTP, 83k miles) is now making nasty whining noises from the pulleys on the left side of the engine. I know one of the noises is the supercharger coupler, which was making a little noise before and now is worse. I'm not sure where the other noise is coming from though. It whines when you accelerate from a stop or turn, so I'm thinking power steering pump or a combination of that and a tensioner bearing... What is the most likely to go wrong at around 80k miles in that grouping of pulleys?

    thanks

With everything in good order....nothing is likely.

Go untension the belts, turn each pulley by hand and or spin and listen/feel them. Replace any that don't feel/sound good. And ... check your power steering fluid level. Likely it's low.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Not to be smart a$$ but aren't the pulleys on the front of the motor? Anyways I know what u and the OP mean. It all depends on what angle you look at the motor. In car then pulleys are on the right, under the hood then pulleys are on the left.

Haha sorry for all the confusion, I was looking at the pulleys from an under hood perspective.

Anyways, I bought a stethescope, and I narrowed it down to the AC compressor. Is it hard to replace? It looks like its in an awful location.

Please get the A/C profesionally evacuated and recharged,do not just pull the lines. And to recharge it will need to be sucked into a vacuum for 30 min then charged so when you take it to get it filled again make sure you tell the shop that you had the system open.

How much does the evacuate/vacuum/recharge service usually run?
