Thread: How do I remove sunroof switch trim

I have a leak somewhere around the sunroof and have ran water down the drain tubes. They're open. The only place I can see where water might be entering is at the little screw that is directly in the center of the front edge of the sunroof. I can see it when the roof is fully back and there seems to be a small pool of water there. I planned to silicone the threads to see if this stops the leak, but cannot get to it.

How do I remove the sunroof switch/overhead map light switch trim bezel? I know there are clips somewhere, but I'm afraid of breaking them off. I guess I figure that if I can get the trim panel removed, then I might be able to get to the screw in question.

Ok, I'll respond to my own question. I put a screw driver between the trim ring and the panel that holds the switch opposite the side of the windshield and pushed on a clip to release the rear of the panel. The panel, then, has to move toward the rear of the car and it drops down through some slots on the windshield side

Now, I still am not sure of where the leak is. I cut a trough in the back side of the place where the screw I mentioned earlier, so maybe that will allow water out where it pools. If it works, then I'll take a good picture of exactly what I did and post it.

good news, sort of. Sunroof doesn't leak. Windshield leaks. I found this by sealing off the roof with plastic taped down to the outer skin of the roof and pouring water to it.

We've had monumental rain falls over the past month and no water inside the car, so I can safely say the problem is solved.
