Hello all,
PROBLEM 1:
My HVAC fan quit a week or two ago and I was told to get a new "Resistor". I found a used one from Ed Morad since the new ones for the Dual Climate HVAC's require a special one and everyone wants 130+ for them.
A few years back i replaced the fan and Ed sent me a 04 fan for my 1999 GTP. I extened the harness a inch on the blower resistor and made it work. No issues what so ever. So I went to replace the Resistor and had to extend this harness. I made it a hair longer because the last one was really tight.
I go and install it and the fan won't power up. Took the fan out and hooked it directly to the battery and it spins. Put it back in and it powers up.?
I get it all put back together and realize I left my key on and ran my battery down. GREAT!
After that i drive around town for a bit after i got my car started again and notice the fan's just not blowing like it used to. I can adjust the speeds but it barely blows at all. I can hear it running though. It runs enough to keep me warm when its cool out but not enough to cool me off. That's another story.
So will extending a Resistor harness make the fan not spin as fast ? Should i get another fan for a 99 vs an 04+ and put the resistor harness back to the correct length? Any other ideas?
PROBLEM 2:
Last year my A\C pump started acting up and I finally figured out to make it engage i would have to press on the plug with a screwdriver and it would kick on. I did this for a month then finally unplugged it, put some di-electric grease on it, plugged it back in and worked for the rest of the summer. It worked the rest of the summer great!
This spring... It will not turn on. No i haven't checked to see if the coolant is low yet. Not real sure whats going on with it. I will check on the coolant later after i get the fan issue solved.
TIA
