Whether or not its a base model or GTP could tell you a lot about how it was treated as a rental.
My base model 06 was a rental and ran great.
Maintnance is usually great on rental cars. See if the seller has paperwork for anything that's been done to the car.

Check the carpet for tears, all around for cigarette burns, check bumpers for different chade or peeling paint (also good to check handles), open every single door and check it's lines. also, check out the side skirts to make sure they're not cracked/beat up underneath from being put on a lift wrong. Examine the rims for curb rash. Check the seals all around the windows.
Put on the stereo and adjust output left/right, front/back to hear for fried speakers.
Listen to it start cold if you can. I always stab the throttle and get it up to a good speed, then slam on the brakes to make sure those work right. If it has ABS... slam hard to test that.
Listen for noises over bumps, smell the exhaust for notes of other fluids (oil, coolant). Feel how the transmission shifts... bad could be slippy or hard.
Not recommended: Testing air bags.
