    I don't think so. It is never open when the car is at operating temp. I believe it is only there to remove the fumes from the tank. Just some more emissions garbage.

    I've thought about this too. You would definitely still need to allow venting of the gas tank, so under the hood is fine?. The other end of the soleniod connects to the TB. You would have to cap that off as well, yes?

    dont know if it is related or not but as soon as i did my ic on my car i just left it unhooked and now i smell gas fumes pretty strong in the car...looked for leakes else where...nothing. my guess is, is that it is the evap.

    I've heard if you park in a garage, you will start to smell gas after a while.

    If the line was unhooked somewhere around the tank, would there be any concern, about fumes pooling and a spark setting it off? When I was a kid, one of my good friends and my little brother were both severely burned in separate gas fires. My brother, the actual flaming liquid (I saw that one) and my friend, it was ignited fumes that engulfed him. When it comes to gas and potential problems, past experiences have left their mark.

    Do they make vented gas caps for our cars?
