My car has been very sluggish up hill our even on flats when I mash on it. I have already replaced the plugs, wires, 02 sensor and fuel filter and the problem is still there. I'm now led to believe that it is the catalytic converter. I want to have the cat removed and straight piped but a lot of people have told me that it will make my car run bad. Are any of you running catless exhaust and if so what does it affect? By the way my car is a 98 GT Special Edition.

No...all it will do is throw a check engine light showing low catalystic efficiency. Getting rid of the cat actually will net you better MPG's and better performance and a tad better exhaust note, but not much.

I'd buy one of these if you have inspection issues when the time comes...if not...cut it and the U-Bend out while you are under the car...if you don't know what I'm talking about when I say u-bend...you will when you get under it...an exhaust shop can cut it out and put in a piece of straight pipe...it is before the catback flange.

But...get this if you care about the car passing a visual inspection: Catalytic Converter

    As for the U-Bend...
