fired up the gp this morning to go to work and it was chiming at me saying trunk is open. It wasn't. The chiming continued all 30 mins to work. I did a lot of yelling shut the f up. Also every 10-15 mins the radio would flicker off then back on really quickly. What can the problem be? Im thinking ignition switch maybe because the radio is doing that, doesnt really explain the open trunk thing though????

trunk is either lock, switch, striker or solenoid. The radio issue makes me think module issue. was it the lights on the radio or the whole radio itself? The BCM controls the circuit for the trunk and the chime, it also controls the light for the interior. so if the radio is just flickering but keeps playing than you have a bcm(body control module) issue thats messing with the trunk and the lights

its a 98..the radio shuts completely off for a split second including the display, then comes back on..this happens in less than 1/2 a second. Also when this happens i can hear a click coming from the glove box area is that where the bcm is?

clicking makes me think relay. The BCM is under the steering column LH side. there is a relay for the chime. its really hard to diag electrical problems. best bet would be to grab a Haynes manual and check out the schematics

That would not be in a haines manual they dont go into detail on any of the wiring.

its been a while since i looked in a haynes manual but Im pretty sure schematics are in the back for all electrical. Its not gona tell you how to repair the electrical issue but Itll give you the color wires to follow where to find a short or the relays. You just have to know how to read the diagrams. I wish there was a way I could send the schematics im looking at in alldata. anymore help i can give on it i will, just let me know. electrical work is alway a pain in the ***
