New here and sorry if this has been asked before, I searched and couldn't find an answer. A '98 Grand Prix. No speeds 1-4, 5 ok. Replaced resistor pack, same thing. I have 12-14 volts at fan on 5, 1-4 nothing. There is power going into resistor but none out on 1-4, but all wires for speeds 1-4 from switch have power in speeds 1-4. I am kinda stumped here, fan switch is working (checked with meter). Any ideas before I spend a bunch more $'s would be awesome. Thanks.

    BTW nice looking site.

Well I'm having the same problem also. 1-4 gets nothing, while 5 works. I'm thinking of replacing the controls.

You could have gotten a bad resistor pack.

replace your ignition switches already, you two.

    97 GT - slow, rusty
93 CTD - more slow, less rust

Haven't replaced ignition yet. Wanted to see if I was missing something before I went down that road (they are about $300 here). Is there a procedure to test the resistor pack?

Ok gonna try the ignition switch. Let ya know if it works. Is it worth trying to do the "fix" on it or just replace it and do it once instead of twice?

You can test the resistor pack with a multimeter ($8.00 @ Harbor Freight tools) you should see different ohm readings across the terminals of the pack...if youve never used a multimeter, ohms are the scale with the kinda upside down U...good luck...

So you have power at the harness going to the resistor for 1-4 and nothing out of the resistor going to the motor, that is a bad resistor.

I have 12 volts at all 4 wires at the same time. Replaced ignition that didnt work. New resistor pack installed. Getting resistance through pack in all 4 speeds with ohm meter. Gonna try a fan switch next, had to order one, this thing is kickin my butt.

If your getting power at all speed at the same time then you might have a melted wiring harness creating a short to power. I would trace the harness from the climate controls to the blower motor just to make sure its not shorting out. If all is good then its probably the blower swicth in the climate controls.
