By the way, my GP's exhaust tips are.....rusty and dirty, to say the least. Any way to polish them up? I was thinking about replacing them with chrome tips. But anyway to make the stock ones look better? I'm the 3rd or fourth owner of this car. Actually, it may be more....but whoever had it before didn't take much care of it, besides putting four brand new tires on days before blowing the engine :)
People have polished up the stockers though a good set of aftermarket quad tips always look nice on GPs. I love having a Daytona, already have all of the good stuff.

Oh yes, Tallahassee and Jacksonville are the only places I've been to in FL where I've actually needed heavy clothing to stay warm.
I'm thinking about aftermarket tips. Are they usually expensive? I mean, I'll probably have this car for the next 9-12 months at least, maybe more if I can't save enough money.
Re: Hey Guys! Great Site. Is my GP "worth" modifying?
Hedman Exhaust Tips - GPEXH - PFYC.com I was lookin at those..not sure if theres any cheaper...i havent looked a lot since its winter and theryre just gonna get caked with snow and chit.

My father mentioned Dodge Stealth, and I thought that might be a nice car to trade for. They're not worth that much, but the similarity to the 3000GT makes it a very good looking car.
Re: Hey Guys! Great Site. Is my GP "worth" modifying?
Id get a 3000GT if i was you...imo the 3000 looks way better...make sure it's a vr4 though lol. If you do find a stealth I wouldn't get one unless its a twin turbo car.

The VR4 is nice, but the twin turbo is incredibly expensive to maintain. Freaking Mitsubishi.
Re: Hey Guys! Great Site. Is my GP "worth" modifying?
I didn't know that lol...so LS1 it is then foo...haha as far as i know they just require regular maintenence that any car does.

Not exactly...there are many well-known problems with the car. For example, the driveline is heavy and sometimes has problems with the transfer cases. Also, the driveshaft alignment bushings break down QUICK.
I've heard there is a LOT of issues with cooling the rear turbo adequetley.
The early ECU's had issues with capacitors leaking causing all sorts of havoc with the car from erratic idle to not even wanting to run.
Not to mention that the car simply has an overcomplex design. The engine compartment is CRAMPED (makes even changing spark plugs a pain) and
the specialty of the car, makes certain, important parts expensive and tough to find.
And is the car even worth it in the end? A heavy car with a crappy drivetrain? I don't even know, lol.
Re: Hey Guys! Great Site. Is my GP "worth" modifying?
I've never done plugs on an import in general but im positive they can't be as bad as a 4thgen fbody...thery're a pain in the ass
There was a guy on ls1tech that his sig said something about throwing a socket in the woods and cussin and some other chit..idk...lol it was pretty funny though.

Oh god...don't tell me that lol. I've heard horror stories of people working on the cramped compartments of 4th gen f bodies. My dad has a garage that specializes in imports, and I know that they are a crazy pain.
I'd go through that pain for an '02 WS6, though, lol. Not for a VR4 with a crappy transaxle and trasnfer case....lol
Re: Hey Guys! Great Site. Is my GP "worth" modifying?
It wouldn't be so bad if half the motor wasn't under the damn cowl....i have dreams of using an aussie blower on my 3800 camaro but theyre like impossible to find.

I've heard headers is a pain to bolt on, too. You try that, lol?
Re: Hey Guys! Great Site. Is my GP "worth" modifying?
I'm sure headers are a pain also...i havent really looked....i dont want my car to be a slow rasp-mobile lol.....if i can find an aussie blower that will mount up to it then ill look at headers and stuff.
Re: Hey Guys! Great Site. Is my GP "worth" modifying?
Google is awesome lol i found the socket thing about the plugs...

I actually went through levels of sand Paper and steel wool to polish mine out bloomed great, but I was in an 06. Remind me and I'll get pictures up.
Re: Hey Guys! Great Site. Is my GP "worth" modifying?
This is me reminding you...post pics of your exhaust tips.:th_sign-poet:
Re: Hey Guys! Great Site. Is my GP "worth" modifying?
^ I used some sandpaper on mine as well. Didn't turn out too bad. Started to flake chrome off on one side tho. Need to go at them with steel wool or get the 40th anni tips that are at local muffler shop. If they are still there that is. They were on shelf in shop last time I was there.

I don't know how that'll work on my '99, lol. I guess I have nothing to lose by trying...except sand paper.
