i have my 2006 grand prix with the N.A. 3800. it has just clicked over 80000 miles and just wondering what all i should do for it.
i know that spark plugs and wires last for 100000 but should i do it now or wait till 95000?
and as far as the radiator goes should i flush it? what color fluid should i put in it? and what color is dexcool?
what else should i do to it?

Get the dexcool out...put in green or yellow junk...new plugs and wires are a good choice now...just to get them out of the way...a new air filter, go for a K&N drop-in...then you'd never have to worry about that again. A pan drop, new transmission filter would also be a good bet soon...refill it with dexron VI if it doesn't have it already.

that is every thing i wanted to know thanks.
but: i heard from a shop owner that if i drop the pan for the trans it might be worse than just leaving it? idk though .
and what about a HIGH pressure injector cleaning? or will some sea foam do fine?
and what about fuel filter? i would do that with the air filter i guess.
what do you think?

that shop owner is a tool... changing the filter is a must for maintenance. and the pan has to be dropped to change filter. seafoam is good stuff. just get that and go by the directions. do a new fuel filter also.

some one who had one said that his made noise and was almost broken or some thing. is this a big problem?
my car makes a noise the first time you turn the wheel after you let it set. and every so often at low speeds it feel like the power steering stops but kicks back on. does that mean some thing bad?

Whenever the go out really, but you'd be good to go ahead and replace them now, or at 100k. And def. go ahead and replace the fuel-filter.

Fuel filter is a no go...its in tank in those cars...also, only thing that MIGHT hurt your car...is if your trans is in bad shape and you FLUSH it...then all the material holding your hard parts together in the trans...get washed out...so as soon as you start driving...BAM, bye bye trans. A pan drop won't hurt anything...plus new fluid and a filter won't hurt. As for the o2 sensors...the only one that really matters is the top one...Denso makes GREAT o2's for these cars...and you can buy them online...and they are high octane tolerant too...so incase you ever feel the need to build the **** out of your car...it can handle the high octane fuel...as for the power steering...it might be cold...OR, might be low on fluid...check that too. Also...I'd change the serpentine belt...80K is a good amount of time on a factory belt...and if you can...get a Gatorback...they are way quieter than a regular ribbed belt. As for the hubs/CV Axles...good way to test that is to jack up the car...and if you can move the tire IN and out while your pulling on it...then its bad. Also, to see if the axles, or at least the boots are crapped out...check for tons of grease and build up around them or on the Lower Control Arms...you'll notice it for sure...if its fresh...its a dingy green color.

when did they switch to in tank filters? i did a 04 fuel filter not too long ago and it was on the frame of driver side.

You can easily do the tranny fluid change and spark plug/wire change at your house...look at the write up in the how-to section on how to change your fluid. Spark plugs and wires can get frustrating to get them loose sometimes, but since you are only at 80K they should come out easy...When I bought my car at 130K that was the first thing I did and they had never been changed before, so it took a little force but thats just how it goes sometimes....I would probably just have somebody flush the dex-cool out but thats just me

Change your spark plug wires. I changed mine at ~55K miles on my 05 because the insulation was breaking down and started arcing out of the cracks. Didn't notice anything running funny but a friend spotted the arc points so I changed them out. I have 78K miles now so I am up there with you. Just did 4 struts this spring because the suspension was starting to get floaty.

yeah i was thinking about doing my shocks. mine are still tight but i want some thing lower and tighter. like as tight as if welded steel bars. lol. but i have not found any thing like what i want. but i am going to do all that next week when i am off for thanksgiving week.

80-100K miles is where you should start considering new struts as well.
I'd take a close look at your front lower control arm bushings.
If they're starting to separate I'd replace both lower control arms and have an alignment done.
Even if you dont need them, it might be worth having your alignment checked.

i had it checked a few moths back and it was out a little but but they said i had to get some bolts for it because the ones in the car are not adjustable. and the bolts cost more than the alignment.
so who agrees that i am going to have to spend a lot of money to do every thing for my 80000-100000 mile tune up ? sounds like it to me.
