My friends pontiac Grand Prix se will stall while going down the road. all lights on the dash flash then the car dies. they can restart the car right after and then if runs fine.

They have replaced both the carberator, belts, and put a better battery in the car. it still stalls on them. not all the time though. They have had diagnostic done on it but code come back saying only the oxegen sensor need replaced.

At a lose of what to try next. they are on a budget so can't afford to do unnessary repairs. Any advice?

Carberator??? The car is fuel injected.
Does the tach go to 0 and the car still runs?

It's a 1997 pontiac grand prix 3800 se 3.8 liter. It has over 100,000 miles. Pretty sure it's the supercharged model

((sorry tried to post yesterday but kept getting errors)).

I will have them test the maf and let you know how that goes.

    thanks
