My 2008 GP with sunroof has about six lamps on with a door open. The owner manual says that there are three modes to the dome switch. On/Off/Auto. I can hit the overhead switch and it seems to have only on/off. Can anyone find off/disable-automatic? Cleaning and detailing with the doors open is a real drain. This also means there is no stealth mode... Thanks.

You dont even need to pull the fuse. Just click the latch in the door with you finger. That will make it think the door is closed. Just remember to lift the handle to click it back befor you shut the door.

The off switch the manual mentions are only on models without sunroof and without roof console. There may be a way to configure it in the dic, I will have a look next time im in the car.

Keep pressing the "i" on your DIC. You'll come across the lamp settings.

i settings have many features but not one of them is disabling the dome lamps. If the no-sunroof models have a switch that does this function request to the BCM it looks like I need to find a way to emulate that. If you have such a switch what does it look/operate like? Three positions?

The switch is only in the dome itself, to the interior light you have a ground, constant positive, and a switched(by opeing the doors) positive.

This way the ground is always the same, however when you shut the switch off none of the positives will make it to the bulb, when its on auto the switched positive is hooked to the bulb so when the door opens the light works, and when the on position is selected the constant positive is used to power the bulb.

I would say the best thing is if you only need them off for detailing is to pull the fuse, however on mine they do shut off after 10 minutes of being on constantly without the engine running.
