so do i have to block off the ports on the LIM too? ive got a another s/c that i want to install that has the coolant ports blocked off.

Don't do it...........
you dont block them off in the blower. if i do it you need to block it off in the lower intake.
however, its not as simple as just blocking off the coolant ports. part of the coolant flow to the rear head goes through the blower and throttle body.
How do you figure? I took a good look a a spare LIM I have and the coolant ports through the blower are just an opening from a coolant passage going through the LIM. Coolant when blocked off from the ports will have no effect on coolant flowing through the LIM. Now the side cover under the throttle body is a different story, but blocking off the coolant passages to the blower will not have any effect on coolant flow.
if you only blocked off the blower then the ports on the LIM are gonna leak anyway. youd have to do both if you go that route, thats why you only do the LIM and leave the blower alone.
I have blocked off only the ports on the SC on a few that I've done w/o issues. I've also blocked at the LIM. To me it's either or. There's no leaks if you do it properly and a good job.
coolant goes LIM > blower > throttle body > blower > LIM > rear head for those ports we are talking about sealing.
if you block them you have to open up the part under that side cover that you mentioned to even it out.
I figured leave it alone....because your blower is going to get hot as sin anyways...whats the point...I mean...really.
Coolant = not as hot as the blower gets anyway...WHO CARESSSSS. The trouble you go through isn't going to save you any degree or any HP numbers either.
I know you're incorrect bio, I'm gonna go take some pics when I get home from work to prove it. There is no pressurized flow through the blower coolant passages to the rear head. There's a coolant passage that goes from the front bank to the rear bank in the LIM that the holes are tapped into but are not a dedicated passage to the rear bank.
Whelp, I'll go ahead and put my foot in my mouth here lol. Looks like it is blocked off. However I can tell you that you won't have an overheating problem if you do block them off. I've had mine blocked off for over a year an have since put 25k miles on the car and driven from Oregon to Pennsylvania nonstop with no coolin issues
