My key has randomly been getting stuck in the ignition, and rather than cheat my way around the problem I want to fix it properly. My car is in extremely good condition and I want to be able to resell it with zero problems. I think I read somewhere on here there's a flowchart to figure out what causes the key to get stuck, so does anyone have it? I'm sure its in the factory service books which I'd rather not buy if I can avoid it. It's an 02 GTP.

turn the key to on, shift into neutral then back to park and make sure its into park good. then turn the key to off, it should come out. The neutral safety switch could be bad

My ignition switch was bad and I replaced that today. From what I've read, that should fix this problem as well.

Just randomly sticks in there and you have to put a screwdriver or something in the underside of the steering wheel cover to release the key? If so...its the white lock cylinder under the dash...pull the tilt level off and then take off the bottom cover...it is a small white cylinder...just yank it out...problem solved.

If it happens again I will remove that cylinder. It hasn't happened since replacing the ignition switch and its rare when it does happen. Jiggling the steering wheel never releases it.
