I have only had this car for two months and it kept on getting worse. I put one step colder plugs, a 180 thermo, new o2 and fuel filter and wires and it kept getting worse. I had it on the scanner yester day and ran it up to 5grand and number two let go. Now I find out that the motor is for 04 only? Does anyone know why and is it possible to use an older gtp motor? Need any help I can get! Thanks guys.

you can use any motor you want to, but youll need to make sure you use the 04+ top end because you have a DBW throttle body and returnless fuel lines. all the motors will physically bolt up to all the others parts, but you have to be aware of which one youre putting in due to the differences between the years and compression ratio.

04-08 is the easiest swappable motors.

thanks for the info! I couldnt under stand why the bottom end wouldnt work from any other year. I guess when you look it up on an interchange thats why it looks like its for 04 only. Does anyone know what the differences are in compression through the years? they have an 03 there that the top end burned in a fire that I was going to look at. Thanks again

Not sure if the cat is clogged but i will find out when i pull it and fix it with a sim if it is. Ill look into whats going on with the top half of the 03 if I go that route and let you know. Mainly just looking for compression info right now though.
