Well if I tap on ignition switch box, car will start, going to change that asap, got home from store and smoke was coming out rear of hood, looked down below rear of engine and it looks like from o2 sensor, and o2 sensor looks melted, doesn't smell like plastic melting though, any idea's maybe got wrong o2? no ses, so no codes. bad ignition switch related? Thanks I may put old o2 back on and check again. part was ordered by autostore that also does machine work
    new o2 is "nip 234-4018"

well after engine cooled I did feel oil down rear of rear valve cover so I think it is spraying oil on o2 wires and dripping down to o2 base where it caught on fire. Dam new gasket set, I was weary of when I seen package it was in. cheap a#s machine shop/auto stores.

well I started engine before I take everything apart to get to valve cover let it get to operating temperture, watch back of engine while giving gas and don't see any oil spraying anywhere, but engine does rock back and forth while hitting throttle, bad moter mounts? along with slightly leaking valve gasket. why did my o2 catch on fire, I did look in tail pipe little condensation but no oil coming out.
anyone got anything? I am on pacific time and I see my post is at 130ish am so you all maybe sleeping, so I will buss to work tomorrow and check forums later.

did you take it in for the recall? i believe it was on the front but it sounds similar. try tightening down the valve cover.. if it was worked on recently it may not have got tightened all the way down. other than that i dont know what to tell you

Torque spec on the valve covers is 89inch lbs. The grommets are a key in the proper pressure as the bolts have sleeves on them to limit them.

Is the wiring melted or anything else out of place for the O2?
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Put car on stands, started car looked up under engine, tranny didn't see no leak's, I asume it's coming out the filler tube when driving. draining about a 1/2 court since there is tranny fluid on cradle and ground, going to dry all surfaces, start her up and see what happens.

Drained 1/2 qourt or so out of tranny, started her up, let run 29 minor so, no smoke, kool, wife ask if we should chance going to store, I said yes I want to put it to the drive test, get readdy to pull out I turn the wheel and hummmmmm, wtf, don't tell me its power steering fluid spraying, would explain hose to left of exhaust was soaked, got to store and medium heavy smoke, (last couple times it was heavy smoke)opened hood, grabbed that wet hose and told wife to turn the wheel, bam could feel it getting wetter as she was turning the wheel, so I didn't fill power steering pump, no fire. sumbich, well bussin again tomorrow, find leak in steering pump hose. I pulled steering pump when I replaced water punp, must of disturbed a o-ring some where, or I find the jole, sorry if any words are mispelled, I can not find my reading glasses?
