Hey everyone, im looking to improve the sound of my exhaust. Considering that i have new headers and custom piping welded in all the way past the cat converter and also new mufflers i decided to toss the idea of a new cat-back for the time being. The exhaust tips that i have now are stock and near ten years old. They also look like ****ty black cow bells or air horns. I was curious if there are any exhaust tips out there that would alter the noise of the exhaust and which ones in your opinion are the best (Brand,Size,Price). I was looking at turbo tips but didnt know if those would look/sound good on a GTP. Well anyways let me know. Ok thanks !

true i heard a VERY SLIGHT difference in the tone with my SLPs trapazoids and the rest a stock exhaust, didnt make it any louder just a tiny bit different, rely on mufflers to change sound

Or just cut the tips off totally...that changes the sound quite a bit.

    Don't really do that though.

dont buy a catback its a waste of money really and my slp catback really sounds sh!tty with the headers, just get new mufflers or a glass pack res

if i were to do it again id polish the outer lip of the stock tips, keep all stock catback, and put the money i saved into blower porting and pulley drop. I'd much rather hear the blower than the exhaust.

I have no tips since i'm too lazy to buy some clamps.

It sounds terrible since i have at least two exhaust leaks i know of.

Sorry, there's nothing that can be done to make a V-6 exhaust sound good.

Ya i figured im going to change the tips regardless, mostly for better looks. And you can easily make a 3.8l exhaust sound good. Cam and cat.

I'm not sure what that is, but I just did a search and it appears to be a Japanese motor in a nissan? I listened to a sound clip that sounded "muffled", so it's hard to judge. To me, it still sounds like a 6 cylinder engine, although, it does not sound as hateful as some I've heard. Here is the link.

VQ35HR photos and sound clip from Nissan - FreshAlloy.com Forums

To me, there's nothing quite as perfect as the sound of a nice fat v-8. Original poster asked for opinions and mine was that a v-6 should always remain as quiet as possible.

To be honest with you the reason why i would get some new tips is for a better look. The stock tips look like black cow bells lol. As far as sound goes in my opinion it's a little better to keep it on the quiter side, last thing i need is another ticket , i feel like the government is paying the salary of one of their employees solely on my fines lol.

I just installed a used Borla catback system and thought it sounded pretty good tipless.

Installed some Magnaflow 35170's (ordered from a catalogue big mistake - they dont look anywhere near as good in person) and the exhaust sounds near stock now. Cant believe the difference the tips made to the noise...

    Im sad
