Ill try to make this story as short as possible and get down to the question.

About 2 months ago i started having problems with my cooling fans. Ill see the temp gauge getting hot and when i go to check the fans, the passenger side fan wouldnt be on. So I did some electrical diagnostics and noticed the relay was extremely hot and was showing signs of heat issues. Sure enough, the terminls inside the relay had melted together causing one fan to not turn on. So i replaced the relay. About 5 days later same issue. The passenger fan would suddenly stop working while the drivers side fan works. So i check the relays terminals for signs of arching to see if that was y it was getting hot. It looked fine so I put a jumper wire across the relay terminals and hot wired the fan. I let it run for about two minutes and smoke started comming from the wire!! So i pulled it out and figured that means the fan is probably junk. I replaced the fan this past wednesday and put in a new relay. Well today the fan quit working again and the relay is melted. So now im stumped. What else could be causing the problem? Keep in mind this is the black relay in the fuse panel. The 5 pin relay. I also would like to see if any one has the wiring diagram for the cooling system. I see the two seperate relays for fan 1 and 2. I did a continuity test and it came back fine with those relays. Now i really dont know what the black relay is for. The pin marked 87a give me continuity with the drivers fan. The pin marked 87 gives me continuity with the passenger fan.

Bought a 98GT for my daughter, now we notice that at slow town speeds the engine is heating up to over 217 before the fan start? When cruising at hwy speeds it comes down to 190 and holds there. ( I'm verifying this with a obd2 scanning meter plugging into the port in the car and the gauge on the dash) I find it hard to believe that the thermostat opens at 190 but the fans are not set to come on at 217.
I pulled the relays apart that cycled each manually noticing that one relay runs the drivers fan pretty fast and the other runs both fans at a slower speed. The only other way the fan runs is if the air conditioning is on, both fan will run at that point.
If I take this car to a garage will they fix the problem, or just charge me to tell me it's fine.
Someone must have had this problem and resolved it.
I checked our taurus and the fans come on at 185 and the temp holds at about 188, again verifying with the obd2 scanning meter.
Any help would or advice is welcome.
    Thanks

I actually took apart a fuse block and one of the fan relay pluggy doodles was all burned and gross. Cleaned it up and now the fan actually runs correctly. Worth a look, it'll take you ten minutes.
Irridium spark plugs last 100k mi and work just as well as copper. Copper is a waste on N/A and only lasts 15k mi. Don't use Platinum.
Use 195* tstat unless you can thoroughly explain why not; 99.9% don't need a lower temp.
Almost any oil filter, ever, is of higher quality than ACDelco. Spend $6+.
