I had my 02 GT in the shop today because I fell victim to the blower working only on speed 5 and the headlights not coming on. That was the ignition wiring problem and cost me $530. Then I am told that my front sway bar has a crack on both ends and my plentum gasket is leaking coolant and will be $750 to fix gasket and $330 to fix sway bar. I also have that lovely issue of rain on the passenger floorboard and while I was at the shop I ordered the deflector.

I have had a pretty much trouble free 8 years with this car. I don't know if I should just fix all and hope it all is well. Are there any other things that are common issues with Grand Prixs that I should look forward to?

Aside from catching fire, they don't seem to have a whole lot of problems across the board, with the exception of poorly made rear trailing arms.

330 seems a bit high to do a sway bar and 750 to do an intake plenum gasket is unreal. Shop around for better prices

x2 on ALL of that. my upper intake plenum costed me $300 at a shop. and a sway bar is easier then piss to replace

the upper intake plenum is also easier then piss..... and if you've never had the LIM gaskets replaced... your going to need to. Just did mine at 123K miles, also an '02.

Thanks all, for the opinions. Husband feels he can take care of the sway bar. This was the Pontiac garage quoting me the prices. Thought I should take it to a GM dealer. I am going to see about getting a second opinion. Love her too much to let her go just yet!

those are some high quotes for those jobs.
my suggestion is to find someone local who could assist you with your car troubles. you could save yourself loads of money and give someone local[hopefully from GPF] some extra cash.

If he can do the sway bar...then he can do the UIM/LIM gaskets...I'd rather do top end **** then mess with the sway bar anyday IMO.

same..and sway bars are cake, just unbolt your links and the rubber bushings in the middle of the bar. UIM is even easier..very straight forward

I just hate anything suspension related...I'm a skinny f*ck. That sh1t requires air tools or lots of muscle...neither of which I have LOL
